According to Newsen on Nov 12th, Song Jae Rim was found deceased this afternoon. He was 39 years old.
According to Asia Economy, Song Jae-rim was found dead in his apartment by his friend who was supposed to have lunch with him and police reported they found 2 pages of suicide notes at the scene. The actor’s former agency stated they didn’t know his whereabouts after his contract expired last year and was also shocked by the news. Song has been working without an agency ever since.
The deceased’s mortuary was set up at Yeouido St. Mary’s Hospital Funeral Home, Room 2. The coffin will be borne out on Nov 14th at noon.
Born in 1985, Song Jae Rim made his acting debut in 2011 through tvN’s “Cool Guys, Hot Ramen”, and built his filmography by appearing in MBC’s “Moon Embracing the Sun”, “Two Weeks”, KBS 2TV’s “Inspiring Generation” and tvN’s “The Idle Mermaid”. He particularly left a strong impression in “Moon Embracing the Sun” by playing the loyal bodyguard Jae-woon to the character of Lee Hwon (played by Kim Soo Hyun).
In 2014, Song Jae Rim gained much love by appearing as a virtual couple with actress Kim So Eun on MBC’s “We Got Married”. Later, Song Jae Rim also worked alongside Kim So Eun on “Our Gap-soon”. “Our Gap-soon” was the first major broadcast drama where Song Jae Rim played the lead role, giving the project special significance.
After that, he appeared in SBS’s “Secret Mother”, JTBC’s “Clean with Passion for Now”, KBS 2TV’s “Café Minamdang”, TVING’s original series “Queen Woo” and films such as “The Snob”, “Crazy Love”, “Yaksha: Ruthless Operations” and “Decoy”, showing his dedication on both TV and the big screen. His final work was the play “La Rose de Versailles”, which concluded on Oct 13th.
In particular, Song Jae Rim appeared as a guest with actor Jung Yu Ji and Lisa on MBC FM4U’s “Good Morning FM” in August. While promoting his play, Song Jae Rim shared that he loved taking on challenges and had taken exams for becoming a fragrance expert and a meat-processing technician, saying, “It’s future husband lessons.”
As Song Jae Rim had been actively participating in broadcasts until recently, the shock among his fans is even greater. It is especially heart-wrenching that his social media name has been changed to “The Beginning of a Long Journey”.
